Our mission is to help students develop a strong foundation in American Sign Language, and to plan and participate in Deaf cultural events. We strive to empower students with opportunities to develop a positive self-image that is based on linguistic, social and personal identity and to develop respect for diverse groups of people.
ASL classes are offered to all students in the Elementary department daily throughout the school year. ASL and Deaf studies modules are integrated into core subject areas through push-in services by the ASL Coordinator. ASL classes are also offered to staff, community members associated with ISD, and to families of ISD students.
