Our JR/SR High program provides a full range of academic, career, and support services to meet the needs of each student. Educators and support staff emphasize the importance of empowering students to take responsibility for their own learning.
Students are offered a variety of classes in curricula aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Course curriculum is modified as appropriate to meet the needs of each student.
Academic programming includes intensive instruction in reading, language, and mathematics to foster improved achievement in these content areas. Each of these classes is 43 minutes in length and meets daily. In addition to literacy and mathematics instruction, educational programming includes a wide variety of course options in the sciences and social sciences content areas.
Students may also choose classes that emphasize pre-vocational and vocational subjects through ISD’s Career Technical Education program, or even take advantage of agreements established with area schools if they are interested in a course not offered at ISD. Individualization is an integral part of the JR/SR High program, aligning each student’s course of study with a transition plan that supports the student in preparation of the post secondary journey.
